Modes of Treatment/support
The modes of treatment can vary, according to the needs of the person,
couple family or group. The principal method used is psychoanalytic
supportwork and psychotherapy. (The "psychoanalytic" approach
looks at the possibility of present relationships and conflicts being
influenced consciously or unconsciously by past childhood experiences.)
Other models of treatment can be used, such as supportwork and
psychotherapy based on: the cognitive model (main goals: to improve
problem-solving and communication skills), the existential approach
(with focus on here-and-now), the eclectic (a combination of different
sources). Treatment is given individually, as a couple, family or in a
group. Usually three sessions are required to estimate the best mode of
treatment for the individual, couple or family.
